Festival History

The Buninyong Festival is the reinvention of the long established Buninyong Gold King Festival that ran between 1975 and 2009. In 2009, a new committee envisaged The Good Life Festival which rang for five festivals from 2009 to 2015. In 2016, the committee voted to run the Festival biannually.

The Buninyong Festival seeks to retain the core values of the original Gold King Festival, while also looking towards the future. The main purpose of the reinvention was to reinvigorate the festival, its committee, and the community.

Dog Policy

We love dogs! But we just want to make sure that your little doggie is comfortable in a large park with up to 4,000 people around them. We have many small children running around the Festival grounds and kids can be unpredictable - so can dogs. If you think your doggie will be anxious in this environment, we do ask that that you leave your lovely doggie at home. We want to ensure that everyone has a great day and that we have no mishaps on the day. If you deem your doggie will be ok in that environment, please ensure that they are on their leash at all times. And bring your doggie doo doo bags! Cos nobody wants to walk in anything but lovely green grass on the day! This way everyone can enjoy the fun and have a safe day.
